The Power Series Alternator Range consists of a number of high-performance, high-efficiency brushless alternators. The series is based around the same family of proven components and unique electrical machine design. As well as operation as a conventional alternator with diode rectification, AVID now offers the Power Series Alternator with a range of rectification and control options.
Smart alternator control means the ability to only utilise the alternator under braking and engine offload periods to reduce parasitic power consumption. Active alternator rectification means it is now possible to operate the Power Series Alternator as a bi-directional electrical machine. Providing charge, and also providing power back to the engine in crank assist mode.
A high-performance brushless rotor lies at the core of the P450, with a unique design to maximise efficiency. High-performance diode rectification is used on the standard alternators and active rectification electronics are available as a custom solution.
Power Alternator 270
The Power 270 Alternator is a high-performance alternator weighing 28kg and with producing a peak output of 270 Amps at 28V. Its brushless design is highly efficient and reliable. The alternator has a front-mounted metal fan and a rear air intake connection suitable for connection to ductwork for a cold air supply. It has safe and clever features including over-voltage protection and it is also corrosion-resistant.
Power Alternator 450
The Power 450 Alternator has a peak power output of 450 Amps at 28V, like the other alternators in the range it has a high-efficiency brushless design, front-mounted cooling fan, and rear ducted air inlet. It has an operational range of 1800 to 6500 RPM and an intermittent speed 8000 RPM for 30 seconds.
Power Alternator 550
The Power 550 is an updated version of the Power 450, having its internal components updated to provide an additional 100Amps of current to give an astonishing 550 Amps at 28V. This alternator is suitable for the most demanding applications with a class-leading power curve.
