AVID has pioneered the development of electrified powertrain systems for heavy duty and high performance vehicles to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. We have developed a full 48V Mild Hybrid (MHEV) solution for commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks.

This system has been proven to deliver up to 28% fuel savings, a NOX reduction of 46% and a particulate reduction of 93%, AVID’s 48V Mild Hybrid solution delivers exceptional results thanks to our patent-pending technology. Watch our video to find out how we did it and more!

In addition to saving fuel, the AVID 48V Mild Hybrid system also provides additional benefits to the vehicle operator. The AVID eFans have a reversal switch which can clear trapped debris out of the heat exchangers. This means that the cooling pack can be kept much cleaner which not only leads to a reduction in overheating but also increases the life of the heat exchanger.

Improved engine thermal management means an improved operation of exhaust after-treatment systems. Improving real-world performance of these systems by ensuring the engine reaches its optimum operating temperature faster and stays there, unlike the conventional systems which often result in poor temperature control and low-temperature operation of the engine. The 48V electrified system also allows electric preconditioning of the trucks air and thermal system, no more cold mornings spent getting air and de-misting the screen!

The system also addresses some of the major operational issues associated with operating heavy vehicles such as buses and earth moving machinery. For example, breakdowns due to overheating, excessive time spent on cooling system maintenance, vehicle fires are caused and accelerated by leaking fan drive hydraulic systems and low temperature operating cycles on heavy diesel engines.
