AVID Technology is a cleantech engineering business based in Cramlington, Northumberland that designs and manufactures technology to reduce emissions and fuel consumption of heavy-duty vehicles. As a result of continued growth we are actively hiring for an experienced Sales Manager / Engineer OEM.

Reporting to AVID’s Sales Director, you will have commercial and technical responsibility for developing and growing AVID sales both in UK and mainland Europe with manufacturers of vehicles and their tier 1 suppliers.

Specific responsibility for generating future major sales growth through selling electrified ancillary and advanced thermal management systems, with existing customers and developing new prospects in Truck and Bus, On-Highway, Off-Highway and Specialist Vehicle market segments.

A high level of technical competence is a pre-requisite for this role as the core products include intelligent electric cooling fans, electric pumps (Water and Oil), alternators and customised Electric and Hybrid Vehicle powertrain technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and grow AVID’s OEM business within the UK and mainland Europe by building deep relationships with customers and effective promotion of AVID’s value proposition:

Build and develop effective business relationships with customer key decision makers at all levels (Engineering/Purchasing/Operations/Service/Senior Management).

Acquire and develop new business with existing and potential new customers for the complete AVID product range from standard products (eFans, ePumps, Alternators, etc.) through to complete bespoke Electric and Hybrid vehicle system solutions and engineering development programs.

Manage and monitor progress via appropriate reporting tools (e.g. CRM).

Manage, support and develop a defined group of existing customer accounts in UK and mainland Europe.

Analyse sales by product group and identify opportunities to grow the business.

Meet and exceed budgeted profitability, sales and sales incentive targets. Continually review sales and margins across the OEM business and identify opportunities to improve margins and to maximise sales.

Represent and co-ordinate customer needs internally. Manage and support customers throughout their project development cycle ensuring that all key milestones are met, including delivery and quality targets. Provide key technical and commercial interface between the various AVID business functions and the customer.

Reporting – Provide weekly report covering customer call plans, updates regarding sales performance, achievements, market intelligence, customer activity, etc. Provide high-level monthly summary progress reports to feed into consolidated Board report. Active involvement and support with compilation of strategic and budgetary planning, sales forecasting and general business reports.

Required Profile & Competences

3+ years experience in a customer facing role.

Results-oriented, Sales Professional ideally with multi-sector technical sales experience selling technology products and solutions into the market

Technical and commercial experience in Vehicle based applications would be highly advantageous.

Engineering Degree/HND qualified with Commercial/Business Administration qualification desirable.

Technically very strong with good understanding and working knowledge of power electronics, motors, thermal management and cooling systems, pumps and alternators in vehicle applications. Ability to effectively communicate with technical resources both internally and externally.

Should be prepared to travel anywhere on a global basis (and at short-notice if required) depending upon the business needs. Minimum 80% of working time to be spent visiting customers.

Demonstrable successful track record of successfully growing business with total value >GBP3M. Expected to assume full ownership and responsibility and thrive in an entrepreneurial, progressive organisation.

Dynamic and energetic in style with first class communication and presentation skills. Strong team player. Honest and trustworthy.

Pro-active, flexible, “can-do” attitude, hungry for success, self-motivated, results-driven and ambitious.

Professional and disciplined at all times, excellent project co-ordination, personal organization and planning skills

Maturity and confidence to work with and influence key decision makers up to very senior level within the customer base. Analytical and demonstrably able to add value to the sales team capabilities and sales processes.

Ability to work under pressure and whatever it takes to meet deadlines and achieve success.

Highly computer literate. Advanced knowledge and experience of Office based packages.

Full clean driving licence.

Excellent references one of which must be from current or last employer.
